Close takes on Albert Nobbs

Glenn Close is not only jumping back into yet another starring role, but she’s already taking on being co-producer and co-writer for the big screen version of Albert Nobbs. The significant thing about Close doing so much for this one project is that she’s previously done this starring role on stage. Directing the feature will be Rodrigo Garcia with several actors already being lined up to co-star, which include Michael Gambon, Orlando Bloom and Janet McTeer.

Set in a luxury hotel in Dublin, Albert Nobbs is a Gosford Park-style “below stairs” drama featuring  Close as a woman in Nineteenth Century Ireland who disguises herself as a man in order to survive (Screen Daily). Producing along with Close will be Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis. Principal photography is set to start in July.
