r173328_655052George Clooney is in the middle of negotiations for Alexander Payne’s most recent project “The Descendants”. The Academy Award winning actor is eyeballing the lead role in yet another novel adaptation by Kaui Hart Hemmings. The story centers on a wealthy landowner who takes his two daughters on a search for his wife’s lover in the hopes of keeping his family together (Variety). Penning the screenplay is Nat Faxon and Jim Rash who co-wrote on the short lived TV show”Adopted”.

Payne and “Cedar Rapids” producer Jim Taylor are both producing the feature. Clooney is in the middle of promoting several films that he’s starring in this fall including “Up in the Air“, “The Men Who Stare at Goats” and “The Fantastic Mr. Fox“.
