Christian Bale will join The Fighter

Submitted by Daniel Herrera on April 21, 2009 – 5:06 pmNo Comment

Mark Wahlbergs long gestating project The Fighter seems to finally be coming to fruition as Christian Bale has just been signed on for a role in the film as Wahlberg’s brother who changes his life for the better.

The Fighter has Wahlbergs character as  a losing boxer till his now drug free brother is released from prison and shows him the way to become the World Lightweight Boxing Champion.   The film has been in the works for quite some time now and had Matt Damon originally signed to play the role followed by Brad Pitt and now Christian Bale, as well as having  Darren Aronofsky attached to direct the pic as well.  With both Damon,Pitt and Aronofsky out of the picture it will be interesting see how David O. Russell will wrangle these two ‘high spirited’ actors into such meaty roles.

David O. Russell’s  previous credits include Three Kings, and the hilarious Flirting with Disaster.
