Chace Crawford will star in Footloose now!
Alright I wholeheartedly admit I do not watch Gossip Girl, which Chace Crawford stars in, but the young actor has now been cast as the lead in the Footloose remake.  Originally High School Musical star Zac Effron was tapped to take the lead role, but eventually the actor passed on the role in order  to avoid being typecast.Â
The film has no release date as of yet but is set to begin production March 2010

I am such a hypocrite when it comes to remakes and newer versions.
I am completely OK with my favorite actors being in the remakes of older or foreign movies, but when someone wants to remake a film that I saw and liked, I totally reject the film.
I loved Kevin Costner as Robin Hood, so I didn’t go see Russell Crowe as Robin.
I loved Lake House with Keanu Reeves so I didn’t watch the original foreign film.
My list goes on but most relevantly, I love Footloose with Kevin Bacon and I really don’t want to see a version with Chace. I have nothing against the guy but I do love my 80s and 90s movies.
So call me old-fashioned (and a hypocite- I just did), I won’t be seeing the new one.
