Catwoman a likely villain in The Dark Knight Rises?
The issue over the title of Nolan’s next Batman film has finally been revealed as The Dark Knight Rises (here), and that The Riddler wasn’t going to be the villain in the movie. That doesn’t stop the rumor mill from turning (here), and only caused more speculation over the villain. One character that has often been rumored, Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and the recent news that Nolan is searching for the female lead (here) may point to character’s involvement.
In the same article from Moviehole, their insider is led to believe the actresses meeting with Nolan all point to Catwoman as a likely villain. “Some of the beauties coming in to chat with Christopher, would suggest that”,according to the insider. Of course, this doesn’t tell us much of anything, and is merely speculation. The names of the actresses haven’t been revealed, although, we may hear something soon, and some of those actresses may have a body build for a character like Catwoman. However, that could mean they’re meeting for any female role like Harely Quinn or Talia Al Ghul. It could even be just for the role of Wayne’s new love interest, which could possibly be another sign Catwoman is in the film.
The reason Nolan gave for not including The Riddler was because he was well-known, and it was assumed he was the obvious choice. The same has been said for Catwoman. While the character certainly fits in Nolan’s Batman universe, may not want to use another well-known villain again. After all, The Scarecrow and Ra’s Al Ghul weren’t two of Batman’s most famous villains, and Nolan may repeat that with another lesser-known villain, like Black Mask. An announcement is expected soon, and we should know then who he chooses.
Having Catwoman in with Black Mask would work really well too as she killed him in the comics.

Nix Catwoman, add Talia Al Ghul and Black Mask, IMO.

I’m pushing for Hush as the villain. He fits in Nolan’s universe, but in the comics, Hush is tied with Wayne’s parents, and it’s a little later for something like that. Besides, it may end up like having the Sandman kill Ben Parker in SM3.
The problem I have with Talia is that the League of Shadows would have been present in TDK if Talie took over, and bringing them back now may make it like they just came out of, well, the shadows (haha).

I was just thinking about them doing Hush also. I think it would work pretty well story wise. The main problem would be that the Hush storyline was so dependent on peripheral characters that simply don’t exist in Nolan’s universe. Plus if they did Hush and didn’t have the Riddler be part of it I would cry foul.
I think they should just say screw it and use The Mad Hatter. Or maybe KGBeast.
I think a strong female lead would be super amazing. Maybe if Batman has a sassy secretary, she could be his girlfriend, also. The Joker did mention that he had a wife, so maybe his wife will be the new villain. It cold even be an alien creature who just looks like a girl and tries to blow up the Earth.
Just some thoughts.

“The Dark Knight vs. An Alien Creature Who Just Looks Like a Girl and Tries to Blow Up the Earth” is an infinitely better title than “The Dark Knight Rises”

I think whe The Joker say he’s there was a wife that he was merely making it up to scare Dawes. But who knows, that was one of the best things about Ledger’s Joker is that we don’t really know is past.
I’m hoping for Black Mask or Talia, I hear Killer crock is in the mix but highly doubt it. would have loved to see the riddler too but according to my sources he’s been axed.

Either way, it’s like the only movie I’m dying to see. I’m certain we will know who the villain is, or at least one of them, sooner than later. I would love Phantasm from “Batman: Mask of the Phantasm” but either way, I’m stoked it is not in 3D.
Keep it IMAX, though Nolan.

Phantasm would be sweet, but The Joker wouldn’t be in the story
Catwoman is not the most likely…it´s the most obvious.
I doubt Nolan will use Catwoman.
I bet my money on Talia Al Ghul.
Clayface.

In Nolan’s realistic world? I don’t know about Clayface or Man-Bat.
