Casting update for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake

Casting for the role of Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake is mirroring that of Sony’s search for Spider-man. Several actresses have been put on the short-list to star alongside Daniel Craig in the remake. However, Fincher has reportedly begun screen-testing the actresses earlier this week, and continue through the weekend.

Deadline Hollywood reports that six of the actresses have already been tested, and Fincher will continue with the tests tomorrow. However, this time each actress will be in full make-up and read alongside Daniel Craig. This will give Fincher a better look at who would be more fit for the complex role of Lisbeth Salander.

There are still a few actresses that Fincher and the studio are seriously considering. These names include Ellen Page (Inception), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Sarah Snook (Sleeping Beauty), Rooney Mara (The Social Network), Sophie Lowe (Blame), Lea Seydoux, and the latest entry, Katie Jarvis. Production is scheduled to begin this fall.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is scheduled to open on December 21, 2011.
