Carr aching to Short Circuit

“Paul Blart: Mall Cop” director Steve Carr is hopping onboard to helm the new “Short Circuit” remake. Dimension Films is holding onto the reigns of this project with “Robot Chicken” writer Dan Milano penning the script. The remake is a robot reboot that brings the iconic Johnny 5 into the 21st century. Built by the military to be a highly sophisticated weapon, Johnny 5 develops a conscience and personality after being hit by lightning. He befriends a lonely boy and his fractured family (Variety).

The original “Short Circuit” film did fairly well during its 1986 release, warranting a sequel. No word yet on who exactly will be cast onto the project. Along with that, there appears a new lingering question of whether or not Dimension Films will be brave enough to leave Johnny 5 as a machine or a CGI machine.
