Captain America starts up in June

That’s right, Marvel Studios finally announced when The First Avenger: Captain America will start principal photography. SuperHeroHype reports that the Joe Johnston directed feature will start filming on June 28th in Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England.

The script is penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely based off the Marvel character created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America’s ideals. Chris Evans heads the cast that includes Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving and Sebastian Stan.

The First Avenger: Captain America is poised for a release on July 22nd, 2011.
