Call him Snake: Jeremy Renner

I fondly remember when Jeremy Renner was in a little flick called Dahmer. He wowed me then and he continued to do so, in films like S.W.A.T., yet I recall people were worried about him being typecast as a mean, prick. Ha. The Hurt Locker changed all of that, which has led to Renner being cast to two of the bigger action films coming in 2011 and 2012: Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (here) and The Avengers (here).

Now, he’s in final talks according to Bloody-Disgustingto play Snake Plissken in Breck Eisner’s remake (here) of the classic John Carpenter film, Escape from New York. Tough role to fill, since the character was made iconic by Kurt Russell. There was once a rumor that Gerald Butler could be Snake. Eisner impressed many with his re-imagining of The Crazies.

  1. He could possibly be the only person I’d approve of.

  2. I like Renner, but Kurt Russell is a tough act to follow.
