Brewer is going Footloose
Director Craig Brewer has been tapped by Paramount Pictures to helm the upcoming remake of the 1984 film Footloose. Right now you must be thinking okay, but wasn’t this already way into production awhile back last year? That was true to a certain extent until the lead at the time Chace Crawford dropped off the project due to scheduling conflicts going on with the ongoing CW show Gossip Girl, reports Variety.
Casting is expected to start up as soon as next week for the picture written by Brewer. The writer/director’s previous feature film credits include Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan.
This marks the latest of several eighties movies that have been thrown into the remake blender. Among those that have recently been mentioned are the now Jennifer Lopez starring remake of Overboard, the Craig Gillespie directed version of Fright Night and many more.
With the ongoing cluster of remakes that are being spawned from films of that particular decade, do you oppose them doing such things or are genuinely interested to see how their modernized version will turn out?
