Blue Valentine gets picked up

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 29, 2010 – 1:59 pmNo Comment

The Weinstein Company makes a possibly really good move as they acquire the distribution rights to one of the more popular films on the Sundance Film Festival circuit, Blue Valentine. The feature, directed and co-written by Derek Cianfrance, stars Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams that chronicles a disintegrating marriage between Dean (Gosling) and Cindy (Williams), told in flashback (THR). There has been a great deal of buzz over the film once it premiered at Sundance, making it practically just a matter of time before it inevitably got picked up.

The latest films to come out under The Weinstein Company include the dark comedy Youth in Revolt that stars Scott Pilgrim lead Michael Cera. They also have been doing their best to pull out a good marketing campaign for the well executed feature A Single Man that garnered itself, and rightfully so, a lot of Oscar buzz ever since it got a some what wide release.
