Bill Murray confirmed for Ghostbusters 3
With Ghostbusters 3 finally moving forward after years of just talk (here), there’s has always been that lingering doubt that Bill Murray wouldn’t be reprising his role as Peter Venkman. After all, we really can’t have another Ghostbusters without the whole gang, and it was said the film wouldn’t happen unless Murray was involved (here). However, it seems that Bill Murray is now officially attached to the film.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, fellow Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd has confirmed that Murray will suit-up for Ghostbusters 3. Not only that, but Sigourney Weaveris also confirmed to return as well. Aykroyd seems to also confirm earlier rumors (here and here) that casting for the new and younger Ghostbusters are true. However, Aykroyd mentions they’re only “stong possibilities”,and that it’s too early make the call. He also dropped Eliza Dushku as another possibility. While many aren’t keen on the idea of passing the proton packs to a younger generation, we’ll at least get one last film with the original team.
Ghostbusters 3 is expected to begin production next May for a release on Christmas 2012.
