Bay’s Gideon Sword gets a writer
Back in late-May, Paramount acquired the rights to the upcoming Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child’ novel Gideon’s Sword. Nothing has been heard since, but it looks like the Paramount has just hired a writer to pen the script.
According to Heat Vision Blog, Chad Talyor (Changing Lanes) has been hired to write the script for the film. The idea is to make a Jason Bourne-like film in order to give Bay the chance to make a character driven film, and still keep his usual style. While Taylor is excited about the film, he admits that he doesn’t get to make the films he wants to make. “My responsibility as a writer is to figure out how to take my skill set and adapt it to the kinds of movies studios want to make today,” he said.
The 12-book series has yet to be released, but it centers on a man with the ability to convince others of almost anything. The man goes on a journey to clear his fathers name, and at the same time, possibly save the world. Bay will be producing the film, and is unknown if he’ll be directing the film after work on Transformers 3 is completed.
