Batman captures another villain

Robert Henderson, the evil mastermind known as The Dark Knight pirate, was sentence to jail for 2 years and near $25,000 worth of fines for illegally copying the film during its theatrically run with plans on selling bootleg DVDs of it according to The Wrap.

He did this out of Grandview, Missouri, proving three things: 1) Batman’s reach is farther than just Gotham; 2) is a strict reminder of those FBI warnings in front of Blu-rays and DVDs you buy from stores; 3) on how serious these warnings and punishments are.

He will serve his sentence in a Federal Prison and have 3 years of probation. Here’s the official ruling of why he was convicted:

The Family Entertainment and Copyright Act enacted in 2005 made camcording in a theater a federal felony (camcording in theaters is also prohibited by many state statutes) and established new penalties for pirating works that have not yet been released commercially. First-time violators can be sentenced to three and five years, respectively, for these crimes and fined up to $250,000.”
