Batman 3 may be heading to The Big Easy

Anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s Batman 3 is at an all time high now that development on the film is beginning to move forward. We’ve already heard from Aaron Eckhart that a script exists in some form, and not to mention the Internet is plagued with rumors over who will star in the unconfirmed role of The Riddler. Now, Comic Book Movies reports that filming could take place in New Orleans.

Filming was just recently wrapped up on Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern, and the studio could be eying to shoot its next tent-pole there. You may be thinking that it could lead to a crossover between the Green Lantern and Batman, but Nolan continues to insist his interpretation of Batman exist in his own universe. WB is hoping to take advantage of tax incentives the city offers, and could be shooting half the film in New Orleans.

Shooting at the location would be a big investment for the studio for a film that would be estimated to cost about $200 million. Location scouting has already begun for Chicago and Illinois, which were Nolan used in his previous films. Production is rumored to begin in April next year for a release in July of 2012.
