Banderas and Almodovar take on Piel

Pedro Almodovar and Antonio Banderas are teaming up once more, the previous film the two of them worked on together was ¡Átame! (Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!). Now they’re collaborating on La piel que habito, a horror film that is some-what based off the novel by Thierry Jonquet.

“Piel” is a horror story without screams or shocks. It turns on a plastic surgeon who exacts terrible revenge on the man who raped his daughter (Variety). Originally Penélope Cruz was going to end up on this film, but due to several re-writes that have taken place on the script over the past few years, she is no longer attached. Agustin Almodovar is producing with filming expected to start sometime presumably this summer in Spain.

Antonio Banderas is sharing the screen with the likes of Naomi Watts, Freida Pinto and Josh Brolin in Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, released in theaters on September 23rd.
