For “Zooley”…
Intruder is an old-school gorefest from Director Scott Spiegel (From Dusk Till Dawn 2) that came out at a time when the slasher film was all but dead. 1989 was not the best year …

Avatar leaves no survivors in the Box Office

Submitted by Melissa Molina on December 20, 2009 – 9:45 pm3 Comments

Film Risky MoviesWe all knew that James Cameron’s behemoth of a movie Avatar was going to get some box office love, but none of us were sure exactly how much. The numbers are in and domestically it managed to make itself some good amount of buck as it took in $73 Million. Not only did the IMAX 3D film make that much over in the United States but combine that together with the foreign box office weekend sales and you’ve got yourself $232 Million overall. Looks like the world was desperate for something new from James Cameron after a twelve year absence from the big screen.

Then we can talk about how barely anyone cared enough to even say Did You Hear About the Morgans? let alone watch it as it took in a measly $7 Million this weekend. When you open up with basically the most anticipated movie of the year, what the hell else are you supposed to expect? The only picture that caught a little more momentum is the newly Golden Globe nominated wider release of Jason Reitman’s feature Up in the Air, taking in another $3.1 Million. Here’s the rest of the box office intake thanks to Box Office Mojo:

Weekend Box Office (December 18-20)

  1. Avatar  ($73 M)
  2. The Princess and the Frog  ($12.2 M)
  3. The Blind Side  ($10 M)
  4. Did You Hear About the Morgans?  ($7 M)
  5. The Twilight Saga: New Moon  ($4.3 M)
  6. Invictus  ($4.1 M)
  7. A Christmas Carol  ($3.4 M)
  8. Up in the Air  ($3.1 M)
  9. Brothers  ($2.6 M)
  10. Old Dogs  ($2.2 M)

Christmas time is here, and what better way to bring in good cheer but with tons of movies to bring you to the theater before or after Christmas Day. The only film that is coming out on December 23rd consists of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Don’t want to watch a kid movie? Of course you don’t. Then why don’t you sit in on one of these Christmas Day release films that include It’s Complicated, Sherlock Holmes and the New York and Los Angeles release of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Do not forget, the films that are getting an expanded release on Christmas Day include Up in the Air and The Young Victoria.
