Avatar breaks IMAX records, nobody’s surprised

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past ten weeks, you would know at least a smidgen of news relating to James Cameron’s ginormous box office movie that is Avatar. Apparently audiences must be going out to the movies still in droves due to the fact that the CGI animation and live action hybrid film managed to make over $200 Million dollars in sales within IMAX theaters alone, says Variety. This easily passes up the total IMAX take of The Dark Knight, which still stands at $66 Million.

If your still highly addicted to Avatar and wish to watch it in magnificent IMAX 3D, you better do it quickly. March 5th marks the end of the IMAX theatrical run of the feature, making way for a three week run of the Tim Burton directed feature Alice in Wonderland.
