At The Mountains of Madness looking to shoot next June

Guillermo del Toro has been quite about his plans for his adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness lately. We’ve heard that James Cameron would be producing the film, with James McAvoy (Wanted, X-men: First Class) and Tom Cruise competing for the lead role (here). However, Del Toro has since been working on getting the script right.  “I’m rewriting and rewriting… I keep rewriting, not for budgetary reasons, but for creative reasons,” according to The Playlist.

Del Toro has also dropped news that a start date is being eyed to begin in June for a release in 2012. “If everything goes according to plan, we’ll be shooting by June next year for a 2012 release,” he said. Although, del Toro does admit that he’s that nothing is certain just yet. “I’ve learned from experience that until the movie is greenlit, nothing is certain. I always joke that I’ll believe it when the Blu-ray comes out,” he said. But it’s pretty much certain the film will get made with James Cameron attached. If everything goes well, then we should hear more casting news soon.
