Aronofsky in talks to direct Wolverine 2
Darren Aronofsky lost out to Zack Snyder to direct WB/DC Entertainment’s Superman reboot, but that wasn’t the only superhero film he was competing for. It was previously revealed at the end of August that Aronofsky and David Slade were rumored to be the final two contenders to direct X-men Origin: Wolverine 2. Deadline Hollywood now confirms that to be true, and Twentieth Century Fox has begun talking with Aronofsky to direct the film.
Hugh Jackman will play a big role in who gets the job, and has a close relationship with Aronofsky after working with him on The Fountain. It’s uncertain if he’ll take the job, but it’s apparently his if he wants it. Production is looking to kick-off in March next year, so expect to hear something official soon.
