Ant-Man will be “a high-tech heist film”
With Edgar Wright’s latest film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World out in theaters, fans want to know what’s the status on Ant-Man. Wright has been revealed a few bits of information in the past, but isn’t sure if it’ll be his next film. However, Wright did spill information on what his take on the character will be.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Wright revealed that Ant-Man will be “a high-tech spy heist film with somebody with a very particular power,” he said. While you may think this will be a superhero version of Honey I Shrunk the Kids, but Wright plans to twist the genre with Ant-Man. “I know there’s a big stigma attached to it, mostly because every movie about shrinking has been about people in peril. I think it’d be great to do a shrinking film about a bad-ass secret agent,” he said.
It’s still uncertain if Wright will make Ant-Man his next project as of right now. He still has to write a second draft of the script, and could easily jump into another film next. However, Wright still hopes the film will eventually get made. “I hope so, yeah. I’ve written a script, and once Scott Pilgrim is done I’m going to work on a second draft. It’s something I’ve been passionate about for awhile,” he said. Ant-Man will be an origin story, which contributed to Marvel excluding him from Whedon’s The Avengers.
