Another King Kong in the works?

I remember when Peter Jackson was nearing completion of his King Kong remake, he teased us for an April Fool’s Day joke that he was going to film a Son of Kong remake, but news today (via Undead Brainspasm) has another King Kong film in the works, since writer Andy Briggs has been tapped to adapted Kong: King of Skull Island, based on the comic you see to your right.

Says Arrowabout the comic’s plot: “Kong: King of Skull Island is based on the graphic novel by Joe DeVito and Brad Strickland. It focuses on the backstory of Skull Island and how the giant gorilla became king there. It introduces other giant gorillas and dinosaurs only hinted at in the previous films.” With a new Godzilla and Gamera in the works, I guess why not, just don’t have him skate on ice.
