AFM ‘09: Trailers for Chain Letter and The Tortured
Things are in full swing at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA. All sorts of cool exclusives are hitting the web courtesy of the guys at Bloody Disgusting.
“While film festivals like Cannes and Sundance provide opportunities for celebrities and Hollywood hotshots to celebrate the art and culture of filmmaking, the American Film Market (AFM), which opens today and runs until Nov. 11 is more like a prolonged power lunch where independent films are critiqued by producers and distributors looking to make bids in hopes of landing a lucrative project.”
Chain Letter: A group of six friends from Carlson High School who receive a mysterious chain letter that moves from their email accounts and text messaging to a creepy little icon that begins haunting their My Space pages.
Who knew they should take the threats of these messages seriously? Or that chain letters can kill?
As the friends battle the curse or a perpetrator targeting them – how can they know for sure??? – friendships are tested once the ominous message begins killing them in the more gruesome ways imaginable, turning one friend against another, with “rules” that seem impossible to escape:
The chain letter must be passed to the person you know best and have seen over the past 24 hours. That person must open the letter. Break the chain and a horrible death awaits you. Beat it and you just might live.
Do you pass it on? Does friendship mean anything?
The Tortured: follows a young mother (Erika Christensen) and her husband (Jesse Metcalf) who decide that the criminal justice system hasn’t adequately punished the man who kidnapped their son. They formulate a diabolical plan to exact their own revenge, and slowly realize that the best way to relieve their pain is to inflict some. How far will they go before “justice is served…?”

Chain letter is going to do big and great things things in the near future. There are stories in North Carolina that are some what similair…… A North Carolina Cheerleader from Millbrook High has been missing since November 13th. 16 year old Christina Taylor was the captain of the cheerleader team. At the time of her disappearance she was dating long term boyfriend and kicker on the football team Levy Meyers. Approximately an hour before her disappearance her friends reported that Christina had received text message threats stating “Break the chain, loose a life”. No one ever takes those messages serious, and I still don’t” stated Christina’s class mate Mandy.
