Adam Berg in talks for Deadpool

All hope of seeing Robert Rodriguez direct Twentieth Century Fox’s Deadpool spin-off is lost. Rodriguez has been tempted to take on the project, but his busy schedule has kept him away, and the announcement Sin City 2 may be his next (here) has booked the director.

Fox has been looking for a replacement, and may have found one in Adam Berg.

The LA Times gets word from someone close to the project that Berg has emerged as Fox’s number one choice. If you haven’t heard of the Adam Berg, then you’re not alone. Berg is a Swedish commercial and music-video director, and has yet to work on a feature film. However, Berg has received praise from Carousel, a short that won the  Cannes Lions International Advertising prize.

Berg became the studio’s top choice after viewing his work, and has even gained praise from Ryan Reynolds. The film already has a script that Reynolds and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) have worked, and has gotten a lot of praise from fans when it leaked online. It does seem odd that Fox would hire an unknown director to direct the film. However, Reynolds has yet to be fully attached to the film (here), and is busy with several projects.
