Abrams producing Boilerplate
As if J.J. Abrams needed to be attached to another project. He’s already about to begin shooting his super-secret, Super 8, with Star Trek 2 and Cloverfield 2 in the works. Now, Abrams will be producing Boilerplate, a graphic novel about the first robot.
Heat Vision Blog reports that Paramount has picked up the rights to develop Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel, and will be produced by Abrams his Bad Robot label. The graphic novel tells the story of the first robot, which fought with Theodor Roosevelt, was involved in silent movies, and disappeared after World War I. It was told by inserting pictures of the robot from the Victorian Age.
Paul Guinan originally pitched the concept eleven years ago, but was brought to Bad Robot by Deborah Newmyer, who will be producing. There’s no word on who will direct the film.
