Aaron Eckhart confirms he’s not in Batman 3

Okay, so you probably already knew that Two-Face wouldn’t be coming back in Nolan’s Batman 3. After all, it was made pretty clear in The Dark Knight his character was dead, and even Nolan came out and confirmed the character’s fate afterwards. However, we reported (here) that Aaron Eckhart read a draft of Batman 3, and led many to believe his character could be returning. But that’s not the case.

While speaking with NBC San Diego, Eckhart confirms that Two-Face is dead, and he’s not disappointed about his non-involvement in the film. “Not at all. It was such a great experience to be one off and to be in the movie with Heath [Ledger], and to have Chris even put me in the movie is just wonderful”, he said. Nolan’s decision to kill off Two-Face was one that few didn’t like about the film, and some felt the character was misused. However, Two-Face had much more symbolism than many seem to realize, and gave the film soul. The question still remains what villain will be featured in the film, but we can probably expect recently cast Tom Hardy to portray the character.

Batman 3 will is scheduled to open in July of 2012.
