A new 2001: A Space Odyssey doc coming

TheDigitalBits has reported that Douglas Trumbull, the famous FX artist who helped Stanley Kubrick in the visual department of his masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey, is helming a new documentary on the film. They seem to believe this new documentary called 2001: Beyond the Infinite - Making of a Masterpiece will be included in a new Kubrick Blu-ray box set in 2011.

In70mm has some more info: “He revealed that he had made his own documentary called 2001- The Making of a Masterpiece showing us an all too tantalisingly brief excerpt. It looked very promising. He hinted that Warner was preparing a final cut of 2001 with hitherto unseen material. Bring it on! I am sure that many owners of the DVD and Blu-ray, will like me, pay top dollar for a new Blu-ray release, featuring these items.”
