A January date for the Oscars?
At the Board of Governors meeting of the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, committee members discussed moving the 2011 Academy Awards to a January date, instead of the usual late February slot. Why? The move would place the Oscars in front of other key award shows like the SAG and BAFTA. The move might even place the award show ahead of the Golden Globes, which will in turn, drastically reduce the amount of time for awards campaigning and would also effect how the studios time the release of their award-caliber films.
