Xerxes has a new, unknown title
While speaking with MTV, Producer Mark Canton revealed the upcoming prequel to Zack Snyder’s 300 will no longer be titled Xerxes. So what will it be called now? “We don’t know yet,” Canton said. But no matter as Canton reveals the script has finally been completed. “It’s been worth the wait. You know, that group of people [who worked on '300'], we’re really a family. That’s part of what made that movie . . . so gratifying. Rather than doing the bad sequel we . . . took our time. And now I think we have something that is going to be fantastic,” he said.
One issue surrounding the film is whether or not Snyder would return to direct the film. However, we shouldn’t expect him to as he’s currently busy working on his upcoming Superman reboot for WB (here), and Canton isn’t wanting to wait on him. “Soon we’ll know what we’re doing. But I don’t see us waiting two years to make the movie and Zack is very much at the helm of it at the same time,” he said. But would Snyder’s absence mean the film won’t live up to 300? “Yeah. I think that’s one of the things is you have to be faithful. Anything less will not satisfy us or the audience. It ain’t gonna happen,” he said. There’s no word on who could direct the film in Snyder’s place, but we should be hearing something sooner or later as Canton told The Playlist the film “gonna happen and we’re close”. But can probably expect Snyder to still produce the film.
