Will Taylor Kitsch return as Gambit?

One of the many problems fans had with X-men Origins: Wolverine was Taylor Kitsch’s as Gambit, but the story of the film suggested we would see him more X-men films down the road. Super Hero Hype was able to speak with Kitsch about returning as The Ragin Cajun. “There were strong rumors a while ago, but I haven’t heard or seen anything tangible anyways,” he told them in response. “I know if we do it, it’ll probably be down the road and we’ll do it hopefully a lot darker. I’d love to play him again, but it’s a matter of doing it right, too. There’s no point in just doing it for the sake of doing it. You gotta kill if you’re going to do it, so we’ll see,” he said.

It’s understandable why he wouldn’t be in Matthew Vaughn’s X-men First Class as the film takes place a decade before Wolverine, but we’ve already heard sequels are in development (here) that could see the return of Gambit. One thing many have also complained about is that Gambit’s relationship with Rogue (Anna Paquin in the films) has never been explored, and the two have never even met in the film continuity. However, word is that X-men 4 & 5 are currently in development as well (here), and we could see Gambit return in either of those films. But fans are already aware of how much the films haven’t been sticking to the source material, and we may never see a relationship between the two characters.
