Will Joel Edgerton be Bourne or The Huntsman?
Universal continues their search to cast the leads of Tim Gilroy’s The Bourne Legacy and Rupert Sanders Snow White and The Huntsman. We’ve already heard several actors up for the lead in Tim Gilroy’s Bourne-less film (here, here, here and here), and it seems that Joel Edgerton has just joined the mix. Insiders are telling Vulture that Tim Gilroy is wanting to cast Edgerton in the role, but Universal also wants him for the lead in Snow White and The Huntsman. The studio is also worried that Edgerton doesn’t have enough appeal to sell the film as they hope to turn it into a franchise.
Many have already expressed disinterest in The Bourne Legacy due to dropping the character of “Jason Bourne” (Matt Damon), and many may want him to sign onto Snow White and The Huntsman to delay the film. However, Vulture is also hearing that Universal’s alternatives to Edgerton for Gilroy’s film are James McAvoy (Wanted, X-men: First Class) OR Shia Lebeouf (Transformers Trilogy). Universal also considers Snow White to be a top priority, and Actress Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Franchise) has already agreed to cut her pay check to make the film happen. Shooting on The Bourne Legacy is slated to begin this July, and a decision is needed to be made soon.

I’ve become a huge fan of Edgerton over the past year with ANIMAL KINGDOM (best movie I saw last year) and THE SQUARE. I can’t wait for THE WARRIOR and will see just about anything with him. I’d rather he do BOURNE than SNOW WHITE, personally.
A BourneLESS film will be a hard sell, reguardless of who they choose. Might be rough for someone tryin to make a splash in US Films.Don’t know much about Edgerton to fairly judge him as an actor.
But if I had to choose between him, Shia LaBOREfest and McAvoy to be a rugged kick ass action guy. This Joel guy looks more up to the task than the other two.

I don’t hate Shia as much as most but I also don’t love him either. McAvoy is more of an actor’s actor, IMO.
I know Jeremy Renner was chosen, but I’d love to see what Edgerton could do in the US. He’s an amazing actor.
