Watchmen settlement details
Now that warner bros. and fox have agreed on a settlement we now have the details on what warner bros. will have to do to keep their film. And yes watchmen will be released on march 6th as planned!
Here’s what we know warner bros. is forced to do now;
Warner bros. will have to pay fox between 5-10 million dollars upfront, as well as court costs and the 1.4 million fox had put into developing the film.
Warner bros. will have to give fox between 5% and 8.5% of the backend profits based on the films overall worldwide profits.
A joint statement was also released showing the ‘love’ the two studios still have for each other: “Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox have resolved their dispute regarding the rights to the upcoming motion picture “Watchmen” in a confidential settlement. Warner Bros. acknowledges that Fox acted in good faith in bringing its claims, which were asserted prior to the start of principal photography.
Sounds like a great pr move. Either way we can now throw all this watchmen business behind us an anticipate the actual movie just like the rest of the movie going public.
