Viggo Mortensen drops out of Snow White and The Huntsman
It was looking as though for a moment that Viggo Mortensen was a lock for Rupert Sanders’s Snow White and The Huntsman, but Variety is now hearing those talks have fallen apart. This is a big setback for Universal as Mortensen’s career had launched considerably since starring Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and it’s unknown how Universal now wants for the role of The Huntsman in the film. But what may make Superman fans happy is that Variety is also saying this has opened the door for Mortensen to join Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot. Mortensen was rumored for the role of the villain (here), but that was later shot down by Snyder himself (here). However, that may have been due to scheduling conflict as both films would be shooting simotaneuosly, and that Mortensen could now join Snyder’s film.

Curious to see who ends up playing ZOD, some heavy hitters are on the short list.

Well, I don’t think it’s confirmed to be General Zod yet, but all signs are pointing to that character. I’m hoping it will be someone new instead. Tired of them re-using old villains.
