Videodrome: the next film to be ruined by a remake?
Sad news today for David Cronenberg fans as Variety has announced that his classic 1983 sci-fi masterpiece Videodrome, has just been announced will be the latest unnecessary remake. Even worse comes the fact that as of now Cronenberg himself is not attached to the film in anyway, and will be written by Ehren Krueger of The Ring 2 and The Skeleton Key fame.  It does seem appropriate to get the film to the attention of a younger generation but a re-release could suffice rather than a full blown remake.
According to Variety the remake will: infuse it with the possibilities of nano-technology and blow it up into a large-scale sci-fi action thriller.
Daniel Bobker will also produce the film whose only credits include The Skeleton Key and The Brothers Grimm, both of which were also scripted by Ehren Kreuger.
