Update on Xerxes

During the red carpet for his latest film Sucker Punch, Director Zack Snyder was asked by MTV about the status of Xerxes. “['300' co-writer Kurt Johnstadt] and I have finished the script. We have a script and… it would be cool to make it,” he said. We heard heard in February that Snyder may be too busy with his Superman reboot to direct the film (here), but he now says that he would “have time”, and that “we’ll see”. Snyder even has an actor in mind for the role,  Joe Manganiello, who was a runner up for the role of Superman before Henry Cavill was cast (here). However, the True Blood star could be too busy to take the part. “He has a day job… but if we can pry him away, maybe,” Snyder said.

Manganiello does look like he could pull off the role, but his work on True Blood kept him from nabbing Superman, and he could see that same thing happen for this film.
