Update on Samson
There’s already a few projects based upon Biblical characters in the works at Hollywood (here and here), but Francis Lawrence’s Samson has been in the works since 2009. Screenwriter Scott Silver (The Fighter, 8 Mile) spoke with Popcorn Biz, and revealed the script is nearly complete. “I’m finishing up something completely different, a superhero movie set in the future for Warner Bros. It’s an original superhero,” he said. The film is said to be a “futuristic retelling of Samson and Delilah.” For those who aren’t familiar with the story, Samson is a Biblical character that is given superhuman strength by God to fight off his enemies.
The film is tentatively scheduled for release in 2012.
