Universal finds the next Bourne
After numerous rumors (here, here, here and here), Universal has finally found their lead for Tim Gilroy’s The Bourne Legacy in Jeremy Renner (The Hutr Locker, The Town). According to Deadline, the studio has offered Renner the role as previously reported (here), and he’s expected to sign on quickly. Like Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), Renner’s character will be “covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Bourne”. Filming is expected to begin this September, and The Bourne Legacy is slated for a 2012 release.
Renner will also be portraying Hawekeye in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers also out in 2012, but Renner’s scheduled shouldn’t be affected by this role.
