Tron Legacy surpasses $100 mill domestically

This week Tron: Legacy crossed the $100 million box office mark domestically, with a quarter of the in take coming from IMAX screens. The film has made around $75 million overseas, since it’s release on the 16th and 17th of this month. The film’s budget was $175 million, and it is likely to make all of that back domestically.

Considering how well the film has done with IMAX, it is good news for them. But is it good news for Disney? They could possibly see this as not appealing to the masses (families), rather to a specific audience. How will these numbers affect the planned sequel? Time will tell.

  1. I’m doubting a sequel will get made. I hope we see TRON 3, but I just don’t see it. It still needs $100 million to earn back it’s budget, but I don’t think it will be considered a success.

  2. Still a sweet movie. Disney will rock the Blu-ray. Seriously, Disney does the Criterion thing to their films. Love buying them.

  3. I hope there’s a sequel, there was a great set up for one.
