Transformers 4 “certainly not a reboot”
With Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon destroying the box-office over the July 4th weekend, talk of a sequel is already getting started. Nothing has been officially announced just yet, and it’s assumed that Michael Bay won’t be directing, or having any involvement with the next film.
But it’s unclear what direction the next film will take. One option is that it would serve as a reboot, but I think audiences have shown they’re sick of those.
Well, Producer Don Murphy took to his forums (via TFW) and revealed the next Transformers film will NOT be a reboot. “What happens next? Certainly not a reboot. We haven’t lost the Transformers. They didn’t grow up or become expensive like Toby Maguire,” he said. Having said that, Murphy isn’t sure what’s next for the series. “I don’t know what happens next. I’m pretty sure there will be a second trilogy. I am pretty sure it will kick ass. And I am pretty sure some of you will hate it because it wasn’t all bots,” he said. For those who have seen the film may think there’s no room to continue the franchise, but there’s a lot of source material to draw from, and continue the story. One thing’s for sure, this won’t be the last time we see the Autobots and Decepticons war it out on the big screen.
