Thor to setup The Avengers villain?

Marvel has been tying their movie universe together with Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, with Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger finishing it out this Summer. All these films have setup characters all leading to Joss Whedon’s The Avengers next year, but word is that Kenneth Branagh’s Thor will add the biggest piece of them all, the villain. IO9 was emailed information that claims the film will make it “pretty clear that Loki WILL appear in The Avengers.” We’ve already heard that Tom Hiddelston will appear in the film (here), but is he the villain?

It’s been popular theorized that Loki would be controlling The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and set him loose for The Avengers to stop.  However, that rumor was recently dismissed by Ruffalo himself (here). The signs are now pointing to Loki bringing the Kree/Skrull war to earth for out heroes to fight off (here). Hopefully, we get something official on this soon. Probably at Comic-con this July.

But I guess we’ll have to wait until Thor opens on May 6th to find out.
