The Wolverine not a sequel to X-Men: Origins
Wahoo!
Fans have been wondering ever since Darren Aronofsky signed on to direct The Wolverine, if it would have any connections to X-Men: Origins – Wolverine, a film ridiculed by fans and critics alike, despite its decent box office intake. In an interview with PopcornBiz, Aronofsky finally cleared up the speculation. “It’s not a sequel.” The film will be a standalone story, seemingly and rumored to be based off of a 1982 miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller that seen the anti-hero rage in Japan.
Personally, I think it’s wise to separate this film from that disaster. Besides ruining the character in terms of story, continuity, and essence, it’s best to focus tightly on a well-told story, not connected to Fox’s X-Men franchise, either prior or First Class. Jackman’s best performance was in Aronofsky’s The Fountain and possibly his most phoned in performance was in X-Men: Origins – Wolverine.
