The Phantom Menace is now a billionaire

When James Cameron’s Titanic was the first to gross a billion dollars, it was a big deal. However, with the coming of 3D, it seems just about every film will almost certainly cross that billion-dollar mark. And with the re-release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3D, the film has now become the first in the saga to earn over a billion dollars. Not only that, but the film is expected to push Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight out of the top-ten highest grossing films list. The film already earned a lot when it was released in 1999, and was able $73.3 million more since being re-released two weeks ago.
