The Lion King 3D once again tops the box-office
Even with four new films opening this weekend, Disney’s 3D re-release of The Lion King still remains at the top of the box-office. According to Box-Office Mojo, the film grossed $22.1 million over the weekend. That’s a drop from last week’s total, but it shows that fans seem more willing to see a classic film over new ones these days.
The second spot went to Moneyball earning $20.6 million, and Dolphin Tale took the third spot with $20.2 million. Fourth place went to Abduction taking in $11.2 million. Perhaps that sequel the director already has planned may have to wait. The last film that opened this weekend was Killer Elite taking the fifth spot with $9.5 million.
Opening this week will be 50/50 (September 30th), Dream House (September 30th), What’s You Number? (September 30th), and Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (Limited).
