The Killer remake officially announced

Essential Entertainment and Lion Rock Productions will team up with director John Woo for a remake of his own classic, The Killer. The 1989 film put Chow-Yun Fat on the international map and the film’s been widely copied amongst other action films. The remake’s director is John H. Lee and the film is starring The Good The Bad The Weird‘s Jung Woo Sung.

“While all my films are special to me,” says Woo of the project that has a script ready by Josh Campbell, “The Killer is truly one of my favorites. We are thrilled to reinvent it as an English-language film and know it’s in capable hands by the incredible visual style and tender emotion John H. Lee brings to all his films.”

Oh, besides being in English, it’ll be in 3D. Um, thoughts?
