The Fighter…2?
From all of the Oscar accolades and nominations, would you have thought you’d see a sequel? Mark Wahlberg, who’s passion project was rewarded properly in my opinion, wants to do a sequel. “Now we’re gonna talk about doing No. 2,” Wahlberg explained to Extra. “We’re gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy and make it real,” referring to the real-life Mickey Ward’s three fights with his most fierce opponent, Arturo Gatti.”
The acting was superb. But David O. Russell’s film felt strangely similar to Rocky and Rocky II, but one didn’t mind because of the true story aspect: the passion, the drive, the underdog story. A sequel would surely suffer, right? I do recall Christian Bale’s Oscar speech. He seems down for round two as Dickie. Thoughts?
