The Dark Knight Rises villains revealed!
We just heard this morning that Nolan would soon be making his announcement about The Dark Knight Rises, and that time has now come. Warner Bros. announced (via The Playlist) that Anne Hathaway will be portraying Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman, and Tom Hardy will be playing Bane. Both characters have been speculated to appear in the film (here and here), but recent evidence was pointing toward Talia Al Ghul (here). But Nolan has been known to surprise many after casting the late Heath Ledger as The Joker.
Although, it should be noted that it’s unknown if Selina Kyle will become Catwoman in the film, but it’s very likely. But one of the reason Nolan didn’t include The Riddler was because the character was one of Batman’s most well-known villains, and the same can be said for Catwoman. However, Nolan was looking for both a love interest and a femme fatal. Two roles that Catwoman has served in the comics. That’s not to say Talia couldn’t still be used in the film. Bane also seemed like a weird choice as many assumed him to be playing Hugo Strange or Harvey Bullock. But we can at least have faith that Nolan will make a proper portrayal of the character, unlike what was scene in Schumacher’s Batman and Robin.

I feel the same way. There’s far more interesting villains than Catwoman, but at least we can see a proper portrayal than that other film (the comic book film that shall not be named).

But it could just be Seline…I too was hoping for a unique, new, maybe obscure villain. But In Nolan We Trust.

I just don’t see Nolan bringing in Selina Kyle, but not her alter-ego. Besides, I think this announcement was to reveal the villains.

Nolan doesn’t seem to know how to write a proper female role. And I’m not saying that as to bash him. Rachel Dawes in both BATMAN BEGINS and TDK were not very well written, and neither actress did a good job with the material. After BATMAN BEINGS, people were saying that was due to Katie Holmes, but when Maggie Gyllenhaal couldn’t make the character worthwhile, you’d have to point to the writing. Ellen Page’s Ariadne had the same flaws. He’s a very good writer, especially for male characters, so I don’t know how great of a job he’s going to do with Seline.

You’re sorta right, but I think that’s more on Jon Nolan than Chris, but we still don’t know how involved she’ll be or if she’ll be Catwoman.

I find Bane to be a great character. What better character to take on Batman than the one notorious for breaking his back?

I’m excited about it being Catwoman & Bane. When it was announced that Heath Leger was going to be Joker. It went over like a fart in church, but once everyone saw what an Leger’s performance everyone was in awe. Chris Nolan hasn’t disappointed us yet with his version of the Batman franchise. Let’s not give up on him yet.
The catwoman i had in mind would wear those old cat eye hollywood sunglasses and costume cat ears on top of her head, and her hair would be all chopped off on one side and long on the other to make her really psycho and gritty looking, and a dirty open fur coat with lacey underwear underneath, and high heels. So shed look like a prostitute , which in the original comic she is, and she wouldnt be all acrobatic, just a bad girl, robbing places and causeing trouble, pissing off the criminals cause she robs the rich and gives to the poor. I can see her being this really trashy slutty bad girl and Bruce, since hes a rich socialite, is disgusted by her at first, but finds her to soon be a guilty pleasure.
