The Crow reboot finally gets a director

Last October, Director Stephen Norrington dropped out of directing Relativity’s reboot of The Crow (here), and the hunt has been on for his replacement ever since.  We heard in February that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) was the front-runner for the job (here), and the studio has now confirmed that Fresnadillo will direct the film in a press release (via Coming Soon). Frenadillo will also be working with a new writer on the project, but there’s no word on who just yet. However, it’s confirmed the film will focus on Eric Draven (portrayed by Brandon Lee in the original film). We should be hearing more on this film soon as production is scheduled to begin this Fall.

  1. As much as I hate the idea of this reboot (The original film is my favorite movie.), I do feel a bit better knowing they actually have a decent director attached. As for the sequels, the only one I flat out hated was the fourth film.

City of Angels: The theatrical cut wasn’t very good, but if you find the Second Coming fanedit, at least it tells the original story, which is somewhat more interesting than just ripping shamelessly off of the original.

Salvation: the second best film in the series (Which isn’t saying much, but still.). it’s actually somewhat different, and I liked the fact that this crow was so much more reckless, since he was unstoppable anyways.

Wicked Prayer: I threw up in my mouth a bit when I watched this movie. Also, how in the hell are you going to cast David Boreanaz in a Crow movie and NOT have him play The Crow character?!

    Matt Keith Reply:

I’ve only saw the first and the second film. Both were good, but holds nothing on the original.
