That Akira remake has a new director
A live-action version of the masterpiece anime, Akira, has been floating around development hell for a long time, with a jump start towards production with the Hughes Brothers (Book of Eli), but that too, fell through.
Now, with the film’s director role vacant, Warner Bros. is considering Jaume Collet-Serra, who recently delivered the studio a hit film in the Liam Neeson-starring Unknown. With a stylish Orphan under his belt, is he the man to deliver a proper version of the anime to live-action or just another studio-pleasing “Yes” man? Not much else is known.
Thoughts?
