Tetsuo may sparkle in Akira

When last reported, Albert Hughes was having some difficulty getting his cast together for his live-action adaptation of Akira (here), and a new screenwriter was then hired to fix the script (here). Everything appears to be in working order now as Deadline Hollywood is reporting the script has now been sent out to actors. Among those actors are Robert Pattinson (Twilight, Remember Me), Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-man, The Social Network), and James McAvoy (X-men: First Class, Wanted) for the role of Tetsuo. Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy, Country Strong) , Michael Fassbender (Inglrious Basterds, X-men: First Class), Chris Pine (Star Trek, Unstoppable), Justin Timberlake (The Social Network) and Joaquin Phoenix are said to be up for the role of Kaneda.

The two roles are expected to be casted soon, and set for a start date in August.
