Studios are going to make you pay more for 3D
Think the price for 3D is high enough? Well, you haven’t see anything yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony will no longer be paying to supply theaters with 3D glasses as of May 2012, and it’s expected that other studios will be following this same policy. Sony spends about $5 to $10 million on glasses for every one of their tentpole films, and they’ll be releasing two over next summer: The Amazing Spider-man and Men In Black 3.
So, how will you be watching either film in 3D? Well, Sony, along with other studios, are encouraging people to buy their glasses from the theaters. We’re already forced to pay $3 or $4 per 3D ticket, but this new policy will have you spending even more of your money on the technology. Maybe this is just another reason to stop supporting 3D altogether.
Bummer! But that’s what happens when there’s so much piracy going around.
This could be the end of 3D. I won’t be paying more than the 2.50 that I already am. And I do try not to see something in 3D if I can watch in 2D. I actually thought the price would go down in time. They charged more for digital projection at first and that when down.

I agree. Sales for 3D are already down as it is, and this will likely kill it.
There’s an easy way around paying. Next time you go to see a 3D movie, just keep the glasses for the next time you go. I already have 4 or 5 pairs.

HAHAHA, Good Point!
Still have mine from seeing THOR, MBV 3D and RE:Afterlife.
:Flips off the bird to Sony:
My GF and I have some too. No need to pay more unless they try and jack it into the ticket price. In which case 2D here we come!
